This is Jonathan Pitre. Just like most 14 year olds, he is sports mad. He particularly loves Ice Hockey, and hopes to be a professional player when he becomes an adult.
However, Jonathan is different to most children his age in an extreme way. He suffers from a rare skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). According to DEBRA, EB is:
“A group of genetic skin conditions which cause the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. Painful open wounds and sores form where this exceptionally fragile skin is damaged – in some cases, internal linings and organs are also affected. Complications as a result of secondary infection and extensive scarring are factors that people living with EB often have to face.”
Watch Jonathan’s incredible story below. Despite being inflicted with such an amazingly painful condition, he shows huge strength and courage in how he deals with it. Perhaps we will be seeing him in the NHL in the future!
