When Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel used to sit down together and write music, they’d often come up with just pure genius. Beauty in song form. Heartfelt, catchy and wonderful, their back catalog rivals any of the greats. And one of their best? Has to be the stone cold classic, ‘The Sound of Silence’.
What an astounding track. And oftentimes, with legendary songs, covers just fail. They can even kind of ruin some songs. So we’re never generally in favor. But not on this occasion. We reckon this left-field cover is just fantastic.
Who would have thought that the heavy rock outfit Disturbed could come up with a version of this amazing song that’s almost as good? Similar, yet adds something ethereal to it…
We think it’s amazing that Disturbed could cover an old song like this and keep its beauty. Yet turn it into something else that’s different but just as brilliant?!
