There are few things more annoying when you’re driving than a flat tire. Even if you have a spare one and a jack and things, it can be a hugely time consuming affair. And if you don’t? Well, you might just be screwed! If only there was another way around it, huh? Well, there might just be. The US Army have developed a ‘honeycomb’ tire which allows better grip and driving – while never going flat!
These babies are even fire retardant. The US Department of Defense commissioned a company called Resilient Technologies and scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Polymer Engineering Center to come up with them and, after $18m or research and development, they’ve come up with them. And they are AWESOME!
