The man you’re about to meet is called Rai Ni. He struggles every day with depression. Life can be hard. Especially in China, where competition for work is really tough. Mr. Ni has a family to support and when he lost a contract, effectively leaving him jobless, he spiraled into a deep, dark depression. He thought he couldn’t provide for his wife and young son. He wasn’t thinking straight. He decided to take his own life.

But it turned out that the very people that he was so upset about letting down were to step in and save him. Ni had climbed onto the edge of a bridge and had pledged to hurl himself off. Luckily, as he sat and contemplated things, a co-worker spotted him and alerted the authorities. They, in turn, fetched his family and they shouted messages of love and support…

Eventually, he agreed to come away from the bridge’s edge with the assistance of the authorities who were present at the scene.
