Lake Natron

Lake Natron in northern Tanzania will turn any animal that goes near it to stone. This rare phenomenon is caused the alkalinity of Lake Natron. The pH levels vary between pH 9 and pH 10.5. At these levels any animal that go near the lake will suffer burns to the skin and eyes, leaving behind these really creepy looking stone animals.
