One of Hollywood’s most beloved actors and your favourite ever narrator, Morgan Freeman, has spoken out in favor of the legalization of weed recently. He also admitted to having been a long-time user of marijuana and has pleaded to the US government to make the growing, purchasing and using of cannabis to be legal in all states.
The 77 year-old was turned onto the stuff by his first wife ‘some years ago’. ‘”ll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it! This movement is really a long time coming, and it’s getting legs – longer legs.” he says.
Here’s the man explaining his case in his own words:
“I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana. They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!'”
“And what negative effects does it have? Look at Woodstock 1969. They said, “We’re not going to bother them or say anything about smoking marijuana,” and not one problem or fight. Then look at what happened in ’99,’ he says, referencing the less marijuana-friendly 30th-anniversary event, which resulted in riots and arrests.”
What do you think? Are you with Freeman and believe that the benefits from weed outweigh the bad points and that the government should legalize it across the board? Or do you sit on the other side of the fence?
