Russian sculptor and artist Igor Verniy takes a very unusual approach to the wonderful artistic creations he comes up with. He works solely with metal. But not brand new and freshly-sourced metallic materials, oh no. Igor only works with recycled goods. Anything that’s metal and thrown away, he’ll use. We’re talking old electronics, used car parts, old clocks and watches, tableware, disused bike parts, anything…
And what is it he’s making? Truly unique steampunk animals! Steampunk is a strange, highly stylized subculture that concerns itself with the idea of technology in the past having sprouted mostly from steam power (think Will Smith’s Wild Wild West).
Before getting to work, Igor studies his subject carefully first. He’ll watch for the they walk or fly, what body parts move and in what way. He spends time researching this so that he can be sure that he’s really capturing the essence of the animal and getting the artwork right.
These truly are quite brilliant…
