This is the crazy moment that a small fishing boat decides to take on a monster wave at notorious surfing hotspot, Mavericks, CA!
The mistake that the captain made was to sail his boat parallel to the waves, allowing the water to hit a large, flat surface, rather than pointing the stern into the wave. So, when the wave hits, all hell breaks loose. The footage, taken by a crew member on a second boat that had just missed the wave, is breathtaking.
