Every site here was opened by a human first
BoredomBash is a directory of things to do when bored online. No algorithm picked any of it. Nobody scraped a list off someone else's site. Every entry was opened, used for a bit, and either kept or thrown out by a person who had to sit through it.
It's been going since 2013, on one idea: the good bits of the internet aren't the bits that rank. Search is brilliant at answering questions. It's useless at "I'm bored, show me something worth twenty minutes." That's the entire job here.
Being famous isn't a qualification
There's no single bar, because the categories aren't asking the same question. Useless websites get in on how gloriously pointless they are. Hidden gems get in on being brilliant and almost unknown. Internet classics have to be genuinely old, genuinely important, and — the hard bit — still working.
What doesn't change: it has to do what it says, it has to work today, and it has to be worth the click. Plenty of famous sites don't make it.
No paywalls, no trials, no "sign up to continue"
Everything in the directory is free to use. Not free-for-a-week, not free-until-you-hit-three-goes, not free-if-you-hand-over-a-card. If a site puts itself behind a paywall later, it comes straight back out of the directory.
If a site wants an account before you can do anything, that's flagged on its listing before you click. Nothing here is paid placement. There's nothing to buy.
Half the "best of" lists online are graveyards
The web rots. Sites vanish, domains lapse, and most link roundups quietly point at things that died years ago. Every link here gets checked automatically, on a schedule, and anything that starts failing is pulled before it wastes your time.
That's also why this isn't a bigger directory. Chucking in a thousand entries would take an afternoon. Keeping a thousand entries honest wouldn't.
The little arrow means someone wrote it up
Plenty of the sites here have a page of their own — what it actually is, what you're in for, whether it'll ask you to sign up, and whether it's worth your time. When one exists you'll see a small arrow next to the name in any list. Click the name and you go straight to the site. Click the arrow and you get the write-up first.

No idea what you want: things to do when bored is sorted by mood instead of category. Some idea what you want: every category is listed, though most people go straight for useless websites, funny websites or free online games.
There's also a Surprise Me button up in the header, which does what it says and quietly stacks the odds toward the good stuff. And a random facts generator, for when even picking feels like too much.

You probably have. Submit a site and it gets looked at properly — opened, checked, categorized, and added if it earns a spot. Dead links and corrections go to contact. A person reads both.
