Back in 2012, a YouTube funnygirl called Laina uploaded a video of herself singing a very special – and utterly terrifying – version of ‘Boyfriend’, a song by Orlando Bloom’s favourite punching bag, Justin Bieber. In it, Laina plays the part of a clingy, stalkerish nutjob of a girlfriend. The kind of gal that’s likely to serve boiled bunny when she cooks for you. The video was brilliant and, quite rightly, went about as viral as it’s possible to get without needing to be hospitalised. Within days, ‘Overly Attached Girlfriend’ had created what was to become one of the internet’s best loved memes.
