Ever fancied just stopping everything, jumping in the car and traveling around the country? Well, now you’ve got no excuse not to, as scientists have come up with the ultimate US road trip. Randal Olson a scientific researcher with a background in Computer Science and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior, created a mathematical equation that plotted the perfect cross-country road trip. It basically allows you to visit all 48 continental US states, and in the shortest time possible.
According to Randal himself, the route is “an epic itinerary with a mix of inner city exploration, must-see historical sites, and beautiful natural landscapes. All that was left was to figure out the path that would minimize our time spent driving and maximize our time spent enjoying the landmarks.”
The stops include:
Grand Canyon, Arizona
The Alamo, Texas
Elvis Presley’s Graceland, Tennessee
French Quarter, New Orleans, Louisiana
White House, Washington, D.C.
Acadia National Park, Maine
Abraham Lincoln’s Home, Illinois
Mount Rushmore, South Dakota
San Andreas Fault, California
Hoover Dam, Nevada
Randal worked out that the route would take 9 days to drive non-stop, so you’re looking at about 3 months if you’re gonna take time to enjoy the stops! Now, where did I put my suitcase…?
