A&E Real Life series Beyond Scared Straight takes trouble-making kids and throws them in jail. Not properly – it doesn’t have the power to lock up people! But just for a day, these wannabe thugs see what life inside is really all about. It ain’t glamorous. Quite the opposite. The youngsters get, hopefully, scared straight. It’s pretty hardcore, but the show has a good record of making kids heading for a life of crime think twice.
