A video has emerged showing staff and customers come to the aid of a breastfeeding mother who was being abused by a man at a Target store. Jessie Maher was shopping at the store in Torrington, Connecticut, when she needed to take a break to feed her baby.
However, this harmless act sparked a bizarre reaction from a fellow customer. “Because I’m feeding my baby, this man is going crazy,” Maher says in the video. “And I’m shaking. He wants a refund because I’m breastfeeding my baby.”
The man can be seen shouting at Maher, as well as other members of the public and target staff. “Can’t you do that somewhere else? That’s f****** disgusting,” the man says to her. He also calls her a “whore.”
Members of staff quickly surround the man and walk him out of the store.“Look at all these wonderful people coming to my defense,” Maher can be heard to say. “I’m good, I’m feeding my baby, we’re chill. And I have some defending women around me, thank you so much.”
She explained the situation on Facebook:
“Before the video started rolling he looked at me and said (very angrily), “can’t you do that somewhere else?… That’s f*****g disgusting.. You are nasty” (he said a few other things under his breath) I responded with, “I am feeding my baby, and I have the right to do it here…walk the f**k away..leave me the f**k alone” He responded with, (as he’s walking closer and closer to me and getting louder) “you are f*****g disgusting…you are f*****g disgusting…you are f*****g disgusting…you whore” he said a bunch more b******t that I can not remember ….by this point EVERYONE came to my defense! Target staff and shoppers… Then I started rolling the camera….”
