Swimming in frozen rivers, eating raw bison meat and sleeping inside the hollowed-out carcasses of dead animals in freezing temperatures. It doesn’t sound like fun, does it? No. And Leonardo DiCaprio can tell you just how much fun it isn’t. He did all of this and more while preparing for and shooting his new movie, The Revenant.
The film sees the Django Unchained and The Departed actor play an 1820’s American frontiersman who is left for dead by his fellow travelers after a bear attack. It also stars Tom Hardy.
At a recent press conference, he said this to the media about the film’s shoot:
“I can name 30 or 40 sequences that were some of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do. Whether it’s going in and out of frozen rivers, or sleeping in animal carcasses, or what I ate on set. [I was] enduring freezing cold and possible hypothermia constantly.”
Sounds good, right? Right. The Revenant comes out Christmas Day. Here’s the trailer for it:
